Constitution and Bylaws of the Mesa Monument Striders

I. The organization shall be called the Mesa Monument Striders.
  1. The organization is an affiliate of the RRCA (Road Runners Club of America)
II. The purpose of the organization:
  1. The purpose of the Mesa Monument Striders is to promote the health and welfare of the community through running and other forms of exercise.
  2. This will be done by:
    1. Regular meetings of the group.
    2. Publishing a newsletter (the Strider) for the education, entertainment, and enlightenment of the members.
    3. Providing races and other related events for the membership and public.
    4. Providing consultation to runners and groups.
III. Membership:
  1. Membership is open to all individuals and families.
  2. There are no restrictions regarding amateur or professional status.
  3. Yearly dues are set by the Board of Directors.
IV. Officers:
  1. The President will be the spokesman for the organization and preside over meetings.
  2. The Vice-President will act in the event of the Presidents absence.
  3. The Secretary will keep notes of meetings.
  4. The Treasurer will keep account of all funds.
  5. The Membership Director will keep track of membership.
  6. Other positions may be added as the need arises.
  7. Elections for the Board will occur at times to be determined.
V. Meetings:
  1. Meetings will generally be held on a monthly basis.
  2. Meeting locations and times will be announced in the Strider.
  3. Special meetings may be called by the President.
VI. Amendments:
  1. The constitution may be amended after approval of 2/3 of members attending a meeting as announced above.
VII. Dissolution of Assets:
  1. In the event of dissolution, after all creditors have been paid, any remaining money shall go the Road Runners Club of America.
