Turkey Flats 2023
Geoff Williams mentioned that he had run steeplechase in college. That was the perfect background for his win in this year's Turkey Flats Trail Run which featured various impediments such as mud sections, rocks, horse hoof divets, low branches and down trees. Geoff used his skills and fitness to put a nice gap on second place Guthmundur Sigurthsson who was visiting from Iceland. Kirsti Garcia used her skills and fitness to put an even bigger gap on the women's field to place first for females and an impressive 5th overall. The course was challenging this year and not particularly fast compared to other years. It did not help that the course marking flags on the top Ridge trail section all went missing overnight. Congratulations to everyone that got through it and helped make up the largest field ever for this race. A big bravo goes out to Steve Defeyter who again swept the course and picked up the flags that remained!
